Add-on installation in CS-Cart

45c50cbf7a

Before installing a module it is necessary to make sure that access permissions to CS-Cart files on your server are set up correctly.

Most of the CS-Cart files should have the 644 permissions, and all directories must be set to 755. This is with the exception of the var, design, images directories (as well as all subcategories and files of these directories) they should have the 777 permissions.  If you set permissions from Unix-system console, for example, via SSH, then perform the following commands for installing correct permissions.

____________________________

chmod -R 755 *

chmod -R 777 var/ design/ images/

chmod 644 config.local.php

chmod 644 design/.htaccess images/.htaccess

chmod 644 var/.htaccess var/themes_repository/.htaccess

chmod 644 design/index.php images/index.php

chmod 644 var/index.php var/themes_repository/index.php

 ________________________________________________

If the permissions are set up correctly, it is possible to move forward.

There are two ways of installing modules.

1. Manual setting. Recommended method which almost completely excludes the possibility of errors.

 2. Installing module right from administration panel. This way often leads to that not all files are copied while installing.

Well, recommended method is manual setting:

  1. The module is a set of files and directories. You need to unpack the archive content in the root directory of the store after this make sure that all the content is copied.

  2. Make sure that copied files have permissions answering description at the top of an article. To be sure hundred percent you can repeat the commands:

_________________________________________________

chmod -R 755 *

chmod -R 777 var/ design/ images/

chmod 644 config.local.php

chmod 644 design/.htaccess images/.htaccess

chmod 644 var/.htaccess var/themes_repository/.htaccess

chmod 644 design/index.php images/index.php

chmod 644 var/index.php var/themes_repository/index.php

3. Go to the  Administration panel > Menu > Module > Module management page: http://demo.cs-cart.com/admin.php?dispatch=addons.manage. Go to tab “View all available modules”, find module in the list and press button “Install”:

That’s it!

Module installation from administration panel:

In order to install the module, you need to go to the Administration panel > Menu > Module > Module management page: http://demo.cs-cart.com/admin.php?dispatch=addons.manage

Then press an icon “+” in the top right-hand corner:

After this in the appeared window choose file with the module and press the button “Download and install”.

It may happen that the clients have problems with this process: either module isn’t installed at all or not all files of the module installed. That’s why we strongly recommend using the first method of manual setting.
