We check everything that keeps a store from working properly and getting indexed: from robots.txt and duplicate pages to the server, add-ons, email and load. We look from the inside, at logs, code and settings, and deliver a prioritized report with a fix estimate.

When you need it

When you need a technical audit

Technical errors are rarely visible on the storefront: they show up as fewer orders, lower rankings or a bigger hosting bill.

The store slows down at peak hours

Pages load slower and slower, the cart hangs and your host suggests a bigger plan. The audit shows exactly what is loading the server.

New pages are not getting indexed

Products stay out of search results for weeks, while crawl errors and 5xx responses pile up in Google Search Console.

After a migration or upgrade

A new CS-Cart version, a different server or host: we check that redirects, add-ons, email and the ERP sync work as before.

Before peak season

During sales you get many times more visitors. Better to find out in advance what fails first: the server, the database or a third-party service.

What we check

What a technical website audit includes

Eight areas, from what a search engine crawler sees to what only shows up with server access.

Indexing, duplicates and markup

robots.txt, sitemap, canonical URLs, redirects, 4xx and 5xx responses, Last-Modified, structured data.

Speed and Core Web Vitals

Server response time, the first screen on mobile, page and image weight, caching.

Server and logs

PHP and MySQL versions, web server settings, errors in the logs, slow database queries.

Load and bots

Who visits the site and how often, how many requests bots and scrapers eat up, and whether the server can handle a peak. Load testing is available on request, billed separately by the hour.

Platform, add-ons and code

CS-Cart and add-on versions, known vulnerabilities, conflicts, core modifications that will get in the way of an upgrade.

Security and backups

Access and permissions, exposed service URLs and files, whether there is a recent backup and whether it actually restores.

Email and integrations

Whether emails reach customers, how the ERP sync, shipping and payments work, and what happens when they fail.

Privacy and cookies: outside check

Privacy policy, consent checkboxes in forms, the cookie banner and third-party services that receive visitor data: the basics of GDPR and cookie consent, checked from the outside.

Need SEO and UX too?

A comprehensive audit covers all eight areas at once and costs less than ordering them separately.

Outside and inside

Technical SEO audit vs. a developer's audit

Website checkers see the symptoms. The cause is found by someone who looks at the server and the code.

Technical SEO audit

Looks at the site the way a search crawler does: server responses, duplicates, redirects, the sitemap, speed as measured by online tools. That is enough to find what blocks indexing, but not why.

Developer's audit

Adds what you can only see with access to the server and code: logs, slow queries, add-ons and core modifications, the email queue, the ERP sync, bot load. We have been developing on CS-Cart since 2013 and know its weak spots.

From our practice

What we find in stores

Four cases from our projects. We do not disclose store names.

No notifications for a whole day

The email queue got stuck on 25 messages with an empty template: for a whole day the store sent no notifications to customers or managers. The queue cleared in minutes, and a fix in the add-on keeps it from happening again.

ERP sync cleared the cache around the clock

About 700 requests an hour came from the ERP, and every product update forced the homepage to be rebuilt from 550 product cards: server response jumped to 4.5 s. The fix is a nightly sync window and a lighter homepage.

Product images without caching

One web server rule overrode another: product thumbnails were served without cache headers, and the browser downloaded them again on every page.

“Page not modified”

The theme told browsers and search engines when the post was last edited, but settings changes did not update that date: returning visitors saw the old page. We found this on our own website.

Pricing

How much a technical website audit costs

The price is fixed. If the fixes start within a month, we credit the cost of the audit toward them.

Process

How the audit works

5 business days from access to the call.

01
Brief and access

Half an hour about your store and its problems. We need access to the admin panel, the server and Google Search Console.

02
Data collection and measurements

Server and mail logs, page speed, responses to search crawlers, platform and add-on versions.

03
Analysis

We verify the findings by hand, look for the cause rather than the symptom and set priorities.

04
Report and call

We hand over the report and the estimate and spend an hour going through them with you or your developer.

Technical audit FAQ

Answers to what clients ask before ordering.

A technical website audit checks everything that keeps a store from working properly and getting indexed: from robots.txt and duplicates to the server, add-ons, email and load. Unlike online site checkers, we look from the inside: logs, code and settings.

An SEO audit answers why the store is not visible in search: demand, structure, content, competitors. A technical audit answers why the store is slow, goes down or is poorly indexed because of the server and code.

$240 and 5 business days from the moment we get access.

For a full audit, yes: without it we cannot see the logs, slow queries or the email queue. Without access we check only what is visible from the outside. If needed, we sign an NDA before you share access.

Yes. We check indexing, speed, server and load on any platform. We go deepest on CS-Cart: we know its add-ons and typical failures.

We check known vulnerabilities in platform and add-on versions, access and permissions, exposed service URLs and files. We do not do penetration testing: that is separate work for security specialists.

Not on its own. The audit finds errors that keep search engines from crawling and understanding the site. Rankings grow once those errors are fixed.

Run a technical website audit once a year and after major changes: a migration, a CS-Cart upgrade, a new theme or host. Before peak season it is a must.
